Bio

The Pine Box Boys are a San Francisco-based band known for their unique fusion of bluegrass, punk, and horror themes, often referred to as "horrorbilly" or "bloodgrass." Formed in 2003, the group was initially conceived by frontman Lester T. Raww, who hails from Little Rock, Arkansas. Raised on traditional murder ballads and horror films, Raww sought to modernize these elements with a raw, energetic sound.

In addition to Raww, the band's lineup includes members “Colonel” Timothy Leather (upright bass), Slade Anderson (drums), and Alex “Possum” Carvidi (banjo, saxophone, accordion, and vocals), and “Gentleman” Jimmy Hadley (vocals, rhythm guitar, and trumpet) . Their music delves into dark narratives, exploring themes of murder, misery, and the macabre, all delivered with a punk-infused bluegrass style.

Over the years, The Pine Box Boys have released several albums, including Arkansas Killing Time (2005), STAB! (2006), Child of Calamity (2008), Tales From the Emancipated Head (2011), and The Feast of Three Arms (2016), and most recently Kung Fu Wolfman vs. The Blob (2014). Their performances have garnered a dedicated following, with tours across the United States and Europe, captivating audiences with their theatrical live shows and distinctive sound.

In addition to their musical endeavors, the band has expanded into other projects, such as Lester T. Raww’s Graveside Quartet and The Hollins & Hollins Mortuary Entertainment Show, further showcasing their creative versatility and commitment to their unique artistic vision.

The Pine Box Boys continue to be a standout act in the gothic country and alternative bluegrass scenes, offering a blend of dark storytelling and energetic performances that resonate with fans of unconventional Americana.
